Liverpool 'target' left unhappy with current club as Reds star reveals he has not spoken to Arne Slot yet

All the latest news surrounding Liverpool as they begin preparations for next season.

Liverpool have plenty to prepare this summer following a change in the dugout. Arne Slot will want to put his own stamp on his new squad over the course of the coming summer, while last season’s tail-off shows a clear need for more quality to be added.

Slot should receive significant backing, but he and the club’s recruitment staff will need to be clever to get the most out of the market given the kind of money clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City can call upon. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest surrounding Anfield.

Kimmich links

Reported Liverpool target Joshua Kimmich could be on his way out of Bayern Munich, according to Sky Sports journalist Kerry Hau. The midfielder is only under contract until the summer of 2025, and with no indication over what Bayern want to do with his deal, the player is said to be unhappy.

That could lead to a potential departure this summer, especially with Liverpool, Barcelona, Manchester City and Arsenal all reportedly interested in a deal. Asked about the interest back in April, Kimmich said: “At the moment I’m not thinking about this. As I already said, I will speak to Bayern first. But of course Barcelona and Real Madrid are amazing clubs with an amazing history. I want to talk to Bayern. And when I do that, I won’t go out and talk to the press about it. I’m only focused on the two games against Real Madrid.”

The midfielder recently decided to work on his own future rather than having an agent, and responding to a question about that decision, he said: “The advantage is that you can speak for yourself, but this can also be a disadvantage. Sometimes it’s hard to talk about yourself. You are responsible for your decision. This is the most important thing for me: being at the table, listening directly to what those in charge say and being able to speak directly with the club and the coach. This helps me make a very good decision for my family and me.”

Robertson admission

Liverpool star Andy Robertson says he has not spoken to his new Reds boss just yet, busy preparing for Euro 2024 with Scotland. “I haven’t spoken to [Slot] yet,” he told Sky Sports.

“I think he’s leaving us to focus on the Euros. It’s an exciting new challenge. Obviously the old era was pretty special and I’ve got a lot to be thankful for for that manager but obviously excited now by the new manager coming in – new ideas, new voice – and I’m really excited for what can come with that. I’ve got no doubts we can keep that momentum going. From all the reports we’ve had, the manager’s very good and I can’t wait to see that up close.”

Robertson and his Scotland teammates are just 10 days away from kicking off their Euro 2024 campaign, taking on hosts Germany in their first game, and indeed the first game of the competition.
